Yellow Machinegun - Father's

Shevy's Review: To
look at this trio of cutesy, lilliputian Japanese girls before listening
to the music, one might expect something along the lines of X-Ray Spex
meets NOFX with some oriental pop-punk sound blended in.
Luckily, one couldn't be farther from the truth. This is fantastic,
catchy, prodigious, nerve-racking hardcore punk with a very slight thrashy
metal edge to it. Pure and simple. The bass and guitar are
revulsively obnoxious, drumming more than sound, and the vocals are pure
muliebral venom (not to mention the laughably poor lyrics, which are
decipherable with a little concentration). Forget the fact these
girls have opened for Limp Bizkit in the past, this is a lesson in
minimalistic female fury...particularly impressive that it's also their
debut full length. |
