Shev's Review:
Unshaven, inebriated and sporting mesh hats, Scissorfight descend the mountains of New Hampshire once again to bring yet another slab of stoner/hardcore brilliance into the world.  People run away in terror, homes burn, the sky turns black, and the Red Sox win the World Series.  All this because of a Scissorfight release?  The question shouldn't be "all this?", but instead, "that's all?"

With wooly down-tuned stoner groove mixed with hardcore and old fashioned rock & roll that makes bands like Clutch soil their pants, Scissorfight just keeps getting better as time goes on.  Uncompromising in their sound, Ironlung belts out viciousness in the form of clean vocals all the way through distorted grunts as the guitar and bass bulldoze through a dozen inhuman tales of woe.  The drums are kept fairly simple as has always been the Scissorfight way, and forms a solid backbone bringing all this chaos together.  Fans of abuse, hunt this down.

Song Summaries:

  1. Acid For Blood - Very heavy and memorable riffs to kick things off.  Nice use of stoner crossed with southern flavor.  A-
  2. New Hampshire's Alright If You Like Fighting - Quality mid-paced sing-along.  The vocals are a little light in the chorus, but it's a solid straight-forward song.  A
  3. Rats U.S.A. - Addictive chugging guitars.  Easily one of their best.  A
  4. Deliver The Yankee Coffin - Simple with a few complex bits, but the lyrics are a little repetitious to be enjoyable.  C-
  5. The Most Dangerous Animal Is Me - Awesome chorus with sharp vocals throughout.  Yet another catchy Scissorfight classic.  A
  6. Hazard To Navigation - Too slow and drawn out.  Nothing too special, especially for a song wedged in between "The Most Dangerous Animal Is Me" and "Hammerdown".  C
  7. Hammerdown - Almighty stoner/hardcore anthem.  A+
  8. Blizzards, Buzzards, and Bastards - Mid/slow placed head-on stoner song.  The chorus sucks, though.  B
  9. Mantrap - Plods along.  Nothing special here.  C+
  10. Death In The Wilderness - The clean vocals are way out of place, although the bass sounds awesome and complimented by quality riffs with tons of character.  B+
  11. Candy Clark - Another great Scissorfight song, but the "Candy" chorus kills it.  C-
  12. Go Cave! - No clue what the lyrics are about, but a killer song to end with.  The quiet metal interlude is entirely uncalled for.  A
