Horatio's Review:
Simply this album rates as one of the most ill conceived comebacks in metal history.
S.O.D.'s 1985 'Speak English Or Die' was innovative for the time, a plethora of short tracks, mostly short slices of grindcore, the likes of which had barely been heard at that point.
It was a one of supposedly, the band playing select shows over the preceding
years that kept it a novelty of sorts, especially the hilarious 1992 live album
'Live At The Budokan'. Due to the bands startling popularity they issued a second album in 1999, why I have no idea.
Fourteen years later the joke was dead. Twenty five dull tracks, with the expected joke thrashers and stale social commentary.
Ha ha, listen to the band parody King Diamond and Celtic
Frost. And dude how funny are those one second tributes to 'Michael H' and 'Phil H'?
Did you also know 'Charlie Don't Cheat'? On whom? Joey Z?
Ian's guitar tone is miserable, a mixture of nu-metal meets Pantera, a factor which caused fat fart Milano to disown him.
So much had passed in between albums that S.O.D.'s impact had diminished
to nothing. It feels more like an M.O.D. album, with Milano's typical rants about foreigners and trend followers.
Appropriately S.O.D. split in rancour after several tours. I don't even care for the debut anymore.
