Can somebody please explain the mass attraction to this album?  I'm apparently missing something here.  Is it the album cover by Wes Benscoter?  Yeah, it's pretty funny and all.  Even banned in places.  The song titles?  "Carbonated Death" and "Ruptured Remains In A Doggybag" sure are clever...I'll give them that.  But those things don't work out to good music or good songwriting, so what else?  Is it because this is popular goregrind and it's expected that fans of goregrind proclaim this Impetigo's equal?  That's the only thing I can possibly think of.

Easily the best part of this album is usually what I dislike the most about other albums...the vocals.  Nothing groundbreaking, just pitch shifted all to hell in both directions.  Other than that it's an overcooked, flimsy, tinny sound that does nod it's ugly head to the qualities of a decent grind production, but doesn't quite connect.  On top of this, the variation in songs are pretty lousy with a few strong moments where they throw in something a little off kilter like something to mosh to...yawn.

On the subject of "strong moments", there are some absolutely redeeming tunes to be had.  Namely "You're About To Fuckin' Die", "Just Another Stillborn", "Swallow The Human Filth", "Rage Against Humanity", "Festering Embryonic Vomit", and "Pyronecrobestiality".  The rest of the songs range from "almost good" to "average" and a few even teeter and attempt to hurdle right over "bad".  Basically, if all you're looking for is a simple whirlwind of distorted sound under the "goregrind" moniker...maybe you want to impress a few friends with your socially acceptable palate for extreme music...then "Carniverous Erection" is for you.  For those that appreciate a little more substance, please look elsewhere.  This isn't a terrible release by any stretch of the word, but there is a lot better and filthier grind to be had.
