The first mainstream release from the quartet from Texas.  That's right y'all Texas.  Don't mess with it.  Why?  Because there isn't much to do there and dammit, people are pissed and want to see something die!  A stereotype?  I hope not, it sounds like damn fun, but where was I...Ah yes, Texas!  It is because of that pissed off attitude of Texas comes Pissing Razors.  An apt name for an apt band.  If you ever wondered what it would be like to have a band that is exactly half Pantera (with higher pitched grunting vocals) and half Fear Factory, this is it.  That is the only way the sound can be described.  Guitars and vocals are very similar to Pantera, with a drummer that plays like Raymond Herrera of Fear Factory with...MORE COWBELL!  What does this create?  Well, straight up Texas loud, Texas proud metal.

Now, about this album specifically.  Yes, it is their first release so you have to cut them some slack.  Although it is obvious that Pissing Razors are influenced by both Pantera and Fear Factory, they relied on those two influences a little too much.  With the exception of maybe two songs, you can pick out the parts they "borrowed" from those two bands (don't worry, I'm sure they'll give them back when they're done with them).  Yeah, well let us not forget that Pantera "borrowed" their signature sound as well as Fear Factory.  Anyway, that is the main complaint from people (and I agree) that hear this release and who like both Pantera and Fear Factory.  This by no means makes this release suck, it just leaves more to be desired and some more original content.

Song Notes:

  1. Dodging Bullets - Texas loud.  Straight forward song (aka repetitive), does change a little around 2:36  B
  2. Tortured - Another catchy Texas style song.  Something just seems to be missing.  Great breakdown at 1:15 and on.  C+
  3. Where We Come From - Straight from Fear Factory.  One note and the double bass follows it.  Changes into some chord changes and speed but nothing miraculous, but still good.  B-
  4. Permanent - More Fear Factory work.  Straight forward.  I like it, but it can be avoided if you don't like the first verse.  C
  5. Life Of a Lunatic - An original sounding song.  Problem is that there is nothing attention getting so it's three minutes of life gone.  D
  6. World Of Deceit - Ass kicking song.  Best one on the album.  Fast, catchy, and offbeat (slightly).  Also original sounding.  A
  7. Disaster - One note intro again (sigh).  1:07 one note, but good drum work (Texas style) to make it cool.  Little chaos in there, too.  B
  8. Desperado - Original sounding, just repetitive and not very good.  D
  9. Sounds - Just that.  Words.  C
  10. Season To Die - Low chuggy guitar intro, slow song with some o.k. yelling and passion.  Just not fast enough for me.  B-
  11. Silent Hatred - Boring song with some guy named Joey C. rapping!  Not on my watch!  Repetitive vocals as well!  D
  12. For What It's Worth - By now it all sounds the same as the last few songs.  Fun drum work at 2:12.  D+
  13. Broken Trust - There we go!  A great metal intro!  When the vocals come in you want to puke due to boredom.  When he shuts up, that's where the cool stuff is.  C
