- Oh, My Regrets 2000 Candlelight Records by Shev Go to KitF reviews - Go to KitF main page Vocals: Ihsahn, Ihriel, Lord
PZ Oh, My Regrets is an EP following their debut full length, Strangling From Within, and prelude to Amor Fati, their sophomore full length. Obvious improvements in vocals and consistency in complexity only makes this release slightly more tolerable that the first. Ihriel (wife of Ihsahn) has a much better voice as does Lord PZ (Source Of Tide fame), but the guitar riffs teeter on the low end of the generic pap scale. Also, the piano sound that made the high points of Strangling From Within are all but gone. This isn't to say Oh, My Regrets is not money well spent. The creativity is in abundance, as could be expected from Ihsahn (of Emperor, Ulver, Thou Shalt Suffer, Zyklon-B, etc. fame). These three have thrown any thoughts of commercial success out the window and just worked on creating something a little more forgiving than the average keyboard driven black metal band. Although their intentions are respectable, this EP could have used some work. Not a bad find for five bucks if you're looking for something new. Song Notes:
