It seems that when Fat Mike's mother told him to grow up, he never did, or maybe in fact she never told him at all.  Whatever the case, any NOFX fan should be thankful that Fat Mike and his band never really grew up, because since then NOFX has been a household name in punk rock.  Since their creation in 1983, NOFX has gone through a few minor line-up changes, while finally settling on their current line-up in 1991, consisting of Fat Mike, El Hefe, Eric Melvin and Erik Sandin.

Their most recent effort, Wolves In Wolves' Clothing, debuted at #46 on the Billboard Top 200, the highest chart ranking of any of their previous albums.  This is an achievement in itself, really, considering NOFX try not to be mainstream and don't allow radio stations to play their songs often, or allow MTV to play their videos.  Wolves In Wolves' Clothing is 46:17 long, but take out the really unnecessary Untitled hidden track that's more than eleven minutes long, and you end up with seventeen tracks averaging just under two minutes per song.

On Wolves In Wolves' Clothing, NOFX seem to have accepted the fact that Bush was re-elected and now it's old news.  So, what better idea than to mock modern religion?  While it's not a completely new concept, it's not the only thing that Fat Mike writes about on Wolves In Wolves' Clothing, which has some Bush references, like on USA-holes, Seeing Double At The Triple Rock deals with a lot of alcohol intake, and Cantando En Espanol is just El Hefe singing in Spanish.

Song summaries include:

1.  60% - This song gets off to a slow start, but picks up.  The lyrics talk about other kinds of musicians, and how they're only in it for the money.  B
2.  USA-holes - One of the few songs that talk about the band's obvious distaste for George W. Bush, and it's a good song.  B+
3.  Seeing Double At The Triple Rock - My favourite song on the album, combining alcohol and religion.  It's a damn catchy song, but it's still true to NOFX's previous stuff.  A+
4.  We March To The Beat Of Indifferent Drum - A classic NOFX-politically charged song.  There's a really funky part at 1:45.  A
5.  The Marxist Brothers - A song that talks about the problems of our modern society, in Fat Mike's classic dry sarcasm way.  A bit dragging, though, with the song only really picking up near the end.  B-
6.  The Man I Killed - The Man I Killed is a song about the death penalty in the southern states, over country-like song.  The lyrics in this song really shine.  B+
7.  Benny Got Blowed Up - A classic-punk type song on how a soldier got died in a war he didn't believe in.  While it's only a minute long, Benny Got Blowed Up is a great punk song.  A-
8.  Leaving Jesusland - Throw in Jesus and religion with topics like low-intelligence, obese people, vegetarians, homosexuals, and people of other religion and you get Leaving Jesusland.  All of the mentioned type of people are apparently leaving because the Church doesn't want them.  B
9.  Getting High On The Down Low - While this song does feature one of the best guitar solos on the entire album, it's a plain and boring song, with not much substance provided by Fat Mike in the lyrics.  C
10. Cool And Unusual Punishment - Punk rock with a slight oriental feel.  Fat Mike sings about Japanese culture and Japanese punishment.  While the lyrics make me chuckle, the song is pure filler.  C
11. Wolves in Wolves' Clothing - After a slow start, but gets right into an up-beat and quick tempo.  The guitar riffs at 1:25 really help everything blend in together.  An amazing song.  A+
12. Cantando En Espanol - If I could understand this song, I'm sure it wouldn't be as funny.  But the fact that El Hefe is singing in Spanish and I can't understand him makes me laugh.  A
13. 100 Times Fuckeder - A very cool drum beat and guitar riff open this song and remind me of 50's rock and roll.  Melvin's classic "Mel Yell" can be heard throughout the song yelling "100 Times Fuckeder".  But other than that, this song doesn't really have anything special to it.  C+
14. Instant Crassic - "I'm swimming in a sea of pee, I'm hiking up a big mountain of poo."  What a great way to start off a song, and it just reminds us that we don't ever have to grow up or mature to be successful.  B
15. You Will Lose Faith - While the song is good, Fat Mike's anti-religious ramblings are starting to lose effect and wear thin with me.  We get it, you don't like religion.  My rating would be worse if the music sucked, but it doesn't.  B-
16. One Celled Creature - I couldn't get into this song.  Melvin's vocals are good in small doses during fast songs, but letting him sing an entire verse was a bad idea.  Even the music sucks.  D
17. Doornails - Couldn't get into this one either.  Yeah, it's good to slow things down and have an acoustic track once and a while, if the song were any good...  D
18. 60% (Reprise) - After a bunch of less than good songs, I was wondering whether NOFX would finish the album on a good track.  And they did.  60% (Reprise) gives us an inside look at the glamorous life of NOFX, and gives us a look at how NOFX think they'll end their careers...  A-
19. [Untitled] - I don't know if this is supposed to be an inside joke with the band, but it sounds as though this song is just eleven minutes of Fat Mike and NOFX warming up and rehearsing songs.  To listen to all eleven minutes of this would mean you have no life or that you were waiting for something better to come on.  I don't know which of those groups I fall into, but nothing better came on.  What a bad way to end an album.  But maybe that's what the boys in NOFX wanted, or more likely they just don't give a shit.  F
