Lamp's Review:
What do you get when you combine in your face homosexuality with
hardcore punk? You get Limp Wrist, one of the most outspoken bands
my ears have ever heard. The band features ex-Los Crudos frontman Martin Sorrondeguy
(who was in an outspoken enough band in its own right) delivering some very unusual sounding vocals that fall between screeching and screaming
with lyrics about gay pride and what it means to be gay in the punk scene.
All of the band members are also straight edge, so there's even lyrics about being drug free.
The music is pretty powerful, while the
songs generally keep a steady beat the whole way through, it's pretty rare
to hear two songs in a row played at the same speed. The riffs don't
follow your typical three/four chord pattern, either, so that's a bonus in my book.
A sizeable portion of the songs actually sound like memorable anthems such as
"The Ode" and the hilarious "Does Your Daddy
Know?" with opening and closing skits of comedic gold. Complete Discography isn't
really the right name for this CD anymore, either, since Limp Wrist have
gotten back together, started touring again, and are even releasing new material.
So if you're a homophobe, here's one release you can cram right in your face because
Limp Wrist are out to smash the hate and the stereotypes.
