Horatio's Review:
'Killing Machine' marked a departure for Priest as they moved away from the heavier and more serious themes of their early albums, including that same year's 'Stained Class', which in retrospect remains Priest's best album.  Instead the songs were shorter with punchier hooks with topics about 'taking on the world' instead of 'invaders'.  It wasn't an improvement in my eyes, with throwaway filler now thrown in, as proved by 'Rock Forever', 'Evening Star', 'Take On The World' and 'Evil Fantasies'.  The title track rescues matters, a short slab of aggression, with 'Hell Bent For Leather', 'Running Wild' and 'Delivering The Goods' also above average.  This can be viewed as the start of Priest's ascent into stardom, but for fans of their earlier work, a letdown and somewhat the beginning of the end.
