Shev's Review:
Hardcore grind. Deadbodieseverywhere from San Francisco have
nothing to hide if you couldn't tell by the name. With a few slight
influences of blurcore and sludge peppered here and there, this is mostly
a full force assault of nicely styled hardcore vocals and piercing grindy
screams with down-tuned guitars mowing down everything in their path.
Blast beats and samples are kept to a minimum to make more room for
supercharged sonic violence.
So what should one be expecting from Deadbodieseverywhere's
debut full length? Well performed tempo changes, grind, low end
strings, grind, pummeling percussion, and some more grind. Hardcore
coinsurers of hardcore grind should eat this right up, however it can get a
little generic at times. Although there are some veritable gems, most
songs follow the same structure, and some are indistinguishable from others
until familiarity sets in. Although nothing staggering happens here
with the exception of "Waste Of Skin", this is a release
well worth picking up should one be in need something new for their grind
library.
Song summaries include...
- Black Cloud - Starting out slow,
it picks up fairly quickly making for a good starting song.
Drumming is top notch, the different vocal stylings keep it
interesting, and the tempo changes are fluid. A-
- Full Body Cast - The guitar sound
is a little austere, but overall the song is strong. B-
- Punch The Clock - The sound bites
do a nice job of breaking up the sludgy parts. Turns slower, but
quality drumming regardless. C+
- Action Packer - Begins with some
basic riff and beat before starting up. Slows way down at the
end unfortunately. B
- Sloth - Boring, generic,
forgettable. D
- Karmassacre - Really cool song.
Upbeat and catchy. B+
- Waste Of Skin - Sounds a little
bluesy. Well done, but would have liked to have heard the drums
play a more dominant role. A
- Less A Man - Some quality riffs,
but the bass doesn't sound so hot. A-
- Chop Shop - Beginning is a
non-stop fury, but slows into a mid/fast pace at the end. B
- Pest Control - Very average.
Nothing stands out, but it gets good at the end for all of 20 seconds.
C-
- Neckbrace - Sick, unforgiving
fury. B+
- Henry's Revenge - Intro is slow,
mind numbing nonsense, but later on the song gets into some great
grind groove. Ultimately turns into mid-paced junk. C
- Earache - Flows right in from Henry's
Revenge. Sick grind with a bit of a blurcore sound here and
there. Main problem is the drawn-out piano for the finale.
