Shevy's Review:
For
those Dead Milkmen fans that missed the original "Now We
Are 10" released on cassette back in 1993, exclusive to members
of The Dead Milkmen fan club, The Dead Milkmen have done
their fans a favor and released "Now We Are 20"...which
is essentially "Now We Are 10" with three extra songs
("Ask Me To Dance", which is a brilliant song..."Rock
'N' Roll Queen", an over-the-top Mott The Hoople
cover...and "A Message To You Rudy", an interesting
Robert Thompson cover). With the majority of this album being live
takes from their "Big Lizard In My Backyard" days, the
overall sound is very gritty and raw. For the casual Dead Milkmen
fan that favors their polished studio sound, this might be a little hard
to get into. For the more seasoned listeners, this is pure
gold. With tracks taken from the very rare "Funky Barn",
"Death Rides A Pale Cow" (the one from 1984), "Dead
Milkmen Take The Airwaves", as well as some other random live
stuff and a Yardbirds cover, this is simply a must have for any coinsurer
of fine Dead Milkmen material.
