Shev's Review: From the AC/DC-inspired opener, "ForThoseAboutToFuck", all the way through the classic Americana-inspired, "NuCorporate", it's plain to see where Blood Duster's influences are derived from. While Australia does have an incredible knack for pumping out some of the better grind bands of today, Blood Duster takes things one step above. With every release, they choose to become more and more rock-oriented...but without sacrificing their ferocious grinding sound. Blood Duster has taken the idea of progression and nailed it perfectly, offering something beyond what everybody else is already doing in the first place. So with their self-titled release, what should one expect?
More of the same, but with a little more hard rock thrown into the mix.
The results are very good, although not as good as their previous release,
"Cunt". Regardless, with some of the rock 'n grind anthems like
"SixSixSixteen", "IWannaDoItWithADonna",
"DrinkFightFuck", and "She'sAJunkie", Blood
Duster certainly manages to surpass "Cunt" in overall spirit and originality,
but as a whole can't quite match up to the memorability. Simplistically
aggressive on the outside, and creatively motivated on the inside, Blood
Duster's self-titled release is something no fan of energetic rock or grindcore should be without. Discography (last updated 7.18.06): |
