Lamp's Review:
Out of the mountains of New Hampshire come a
band that takes the elements of 80's crossover and fuses them with elements you would
see in modern hardcore. The end result is a noise attack that's sure to kick your face in and leave you wanting more.
The vocals are very in your face, just like the lyrics that question the world in its
current state. While punk-based in it's sound, the volume is turned way
up on all the instruments and there's even a little bit of grind influence to be had at times.
While all these tracks are now available on the Bare As Bones
compilation (which also features tracks from other old 7" material they have), these five tracks alone are worth near that
price in my opinion.
Song summaries include...
- Be All End All
(File Under Hostility Version 3.0) - The first ten
seconds of this are very quiet, but I warn you not to turn your stereo up too
loud. That is just how they want to trick you. Perfect for an opener.
A-
- Nine Scabs Revisited
- Kind of forgettable, but it still flows with
the general energy of the last song. B
- Right On Man...And When We're Done Bombing Those Fuckers, We Can
Go Back To My Place And Rub One Off To The Image Of Ashleigh Banfield On My 35-Inch Flat Screen TV
- First of all, I'd like to note that this is easily the longest song title I've ever seen.
Once again, somewhat forgettable but it still maintains the general energy of the last two
songs. B
- Flesh Wounds, Target Practice, And How I Became A Statistic
- Awesome stops in this song. Also has a cool riff that sounds kind of doomy.
The first 30 seconds of the song are what you've heard before, but then the
rest of the track is piano coupled with feedback. Perfect transition
into the next song. B+
- I'll Cut My Hair When You Pick Up That Name You Dropped
- This is my favorite BSI song of all time. Everything about it is perfect.
The way it incorporates punk riffs with hardcore energy. The lyrics.
The screaming at the end. The way it sounds like a hero is rising from the ashes at
the second half of the song. A+
