Shev's Review:
Avulsed has always been one of those bands that continue to consistently crank out the same stuff with very little progression from album to album.  They're kind of like the AC/DC of death metal, but not to that extreme.  On top of that, they bring absolutely nothing new to the death metal table...ever.  Oddly enough, I can't ever seem to get enough of these guys.  And with "Yearning For The Grotesque" what should one expect?  More of the same, of course.  Catchy death metal with the occasional sense of melody to help things along, impeccably unique death metal vocals from Dave Rotten, very catchy riffs, and obliterating drums.  For fans of well-structured death metal, you simply can't go wrong with a band like Avulsed that has not only conquered the basics, but continues to build with modern classics like "Daddy Stew", "I Feel Good...Eating Human Flesh", and the surprisingly great "Decrepit Sigh".
