Horatio's Review:
After making the thrash big leagues with 'Spreading The Disease' and 'Among The Living', Anthrax joined Megadeth in 1988 with a huge step backwards.  If 'Among' had been a ruthless display of intense thrash that (almost) rivaled Slayer, then 'State' was the opposite, the songs ineffective and far too light, thanks to a thin production.  There's an abundance of thrash, but it fails to convince, with only a few tracks, namely 'Be All, End All', 'Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind' and 'Schism' rising above the mediocrity.  'Finale', 'Misery Loves Company' and 'Who Cares Wins' could be Anthrax's worst, and the fact that a cover (Trust's 'Antisocial') is the most remembered cut off the album, shows how forgotten and atrocious this was and still is.  Especially those skate shorts and Benante's hair.
